Our Mission

To provide the highest standards of multi-professional, specialist, paediatric palliative care and support to children with life limiting or life threatening illnesses who reside in Kuwait, and their families.

We aim to improve the quality of life for children and their families from diagnosis and beyond by offering these services, tailored to the individual family’s needs, in the location of their choice, whether at home, in Bayt Abdullah or through our outreach programme in their local hospital.

We offer specialist symptom management, medically supported ‘respite’ care, home care, rehabilitation services and play activities as well as psychological and practical support for the whole family.

Our Philosophy

  • Compassion: to recognise and respond to each child’s individual needs in partnership with the child and family.

  • Commitment: to the delivery of the highest standards of palliative care services to children and families in Kuwait.

  • Competence: to provide individual, expert support to those most in need.

  • Community: collaborating with local and international communities enables us to access additional supportive services for our children and families as well as opportunities to share and expand our knowledge and experience.

Bayt Abdullah Services

Home Care

Home care is the provision of health services by a team of medical professionals in the child’s home in order to promote, restore and maintain their level of comfort, function and health.

Day Care

The Day Care Centre provides clinical assessment of the child’s condition, treatment of pain and other symptoms, opportunities for play, education, physiotherapy, counselling, recreation and entertainment for the whole family.

Inpatient facilities consist of 6 mother and child suites and 6 mother and baby suites. Each suite has a comfortable bed for the mother as well as the child or baby and TV and sitting area. The inpatient facilities are for children who develop complex symptoms that need to be managed and brought under control by our paediatric palliative care specialists.

Respite Chalets

Eleven chalets give our families the opportunity to have short holidays away from home at a time when it may be difficult for them to travel. For a long weekend or a few days at a time, the whole family will be cared for in one of Bayt Abdullah’s enjoying all the facilities with the full support of our hospice staff. The goal is to provide a home-like environment where the family can take a rest from sole responsibility of caring for child at home.
